Camp Crew

GEAR AND CAMP CREW

This Crew transports rider gear, camp equipment, supplies, and food between scheduled locations. These teams must consist of a leader who is able to drive a 24' box truck, and all members should be comfortable lifting 50-75lbs.

Assigned Crew drivers must possess a valid driver's license at the time of the event.

CAMP SERVICES CREW

This crew works closely with the Camp Services Crew Manager to setup camp in advance of the riders' arrival. They unload trucks, setup chairs, tables, put out signs, and create a home away from home for all participants.

On the final day of the ride they pack up camp, load trucks, and make sure the facility is left in perfect condition.

Between setup and takedown, these crew members will staff the information table, check-in riders and crew, and assist with moving bikes to overnight storage. Crew members should be comfortable lifting 50+ lbs.

Route Crew

ICE & WATER

This crew ensures that riders stay hydrated by distributing and replenishing water, ice, and supplies for each of the rest stops along the route.

Once the last rider has passed through a stop, this crew picks up leftover water, coolers, supply totes, and garbage.

These crew members should be comfortable lifting 50 lbs. and able to get in and out of a vehicle multiple times per day.

OPENING CEREMONY ASSISTANCE (FRIDAY EARLY AM)

This crew helps with setup needs for the Opening Ceremony in the Madison area. They assist with the loading and unloading of trucks, rider and crew check-in, t-shirt pickup, and decorating. Once all riders are on route, this crew assists with the clean-up needs.

This shift typically begins at 6am and ends by 8:30am or earlier.

POST-PARTY CLEAN-UP AND STORAGE ASSISTANCE (SUNDAY ONLY)

This crew assists with the loading of the gear/supply trucks at the Welcome Home Party Location. They also assist with the unloading of the gear/supply trucks at the ARCW storage facility located on the east-side of Madison.

These crew members should feel comfortable lifting 50+ lbs.

REST STOP CREW

Morning, afternoon and lunch rest stop crews are responsible for the set-up, operation, and take-down of their rest stop in addition to creating a fun atmosphere as riders arrive.

This crew also distributes bagged lunches, snacks, water, and sports drinks to all riders.

ROUTE MARKING

This crew marks the riders' route with signs and arrows prior to the start of the ride each day. Attention to detail is key, as the riders rely on route marking to find their way along the route. This crew will also collect the signs and arrows when the day's route is completed.

These crew members should be comfortable getting in and out of a vehicle multiple times per day.

SWEEP

This crew circulates throughout the route providing transportation and technical support to riders. Sweep also keeps the route clear of obstacles by sweeping gravel and debris off the road.

Sweep teams vehicles are a party on wheels -- playing music, cheering on the riders, and bringing the party throughout the route!

TRAFFIC ASSISTANCE

These volunteers are responsible for assisting riders through any heavily trafficked areas on route. They do not disrupt traffic but assist riders by confirming intersections are safe to cross. Safety vests are provided.

WELCOME HOME PARTY (SUNDAY ONLY)

This crew helps with the setup and cleanup needs at the Welcome Home Party on Sunday. This crew assists with decorating, loading and unloading of trucks, rider and crew check-in, and park cleanup.

Specialty Crew

MASSAGE

This crew provides massage services to participants for free during the event. Masseuses must provide their own massage table or chair and possess proof of insurance, certification, or student status.

MEDICAL

Comprised of a variety of medical professionals, this crew provides basic first-aid services to participants in camp, at rest stops, and on route. If necessary, they provide emergency service until local EMS/paramedics arrive on the scene. These Crew members must have a current and active license or certificate as a physician (M.D./D.O.), registered nurse (R.N.), licensed practical nurse, or vocational nurse (L.P.N./L.V.N.), Emergency Medical Technician (E.M.T.)/Paramedic, Physician Assistant or Associate (P.A.), OR have current certification in First Aid and CPR Training.

PHOTOGRAPHY

These volunteers allow participants to relive the memories from the Opening Ceremony, to the Welcome Home Party and everything in between. Copies of the photographs must be provided to ARCW for marketing and social media platforms. These volunteers must provide their own photography equipment.
