When and where is AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run?
AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at the Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee.  Registration and morning festivities begin at 9:30 a.m., 5K Run official start is at 10:30 a.m., the opening ceremonies will take place at noon, and the 5K Walk starts at 12:30 p.m.

How do I sign up?
It's easy! You have several choices:  Register online, call 800.348.WALK or email aidswalkwisconsin@arcw.org.

Tell me about the 5K run.
AIDS Walk Wisconsin hosts a timed 5K fun run. The run will start from inside the Summerfest Grounds and follow the same route as the walk. Runners will start at 10:30 a.m. prior to the opening ceremonies. AIDS Walk Wisconsin is working with a race company for accurate timing. Prizes will be awarded to top runners.

How much does it cost to register? Is there a minimum amount of money I need to raise in order to participate?
Participating in the walk is FREEThere is a fee* associated with the run - $30 in advance, $35 day-of event.  There is no pledge minimum required for either the walk or the run. However, we encourage all participants to set and work toward a personal fundraising goal.  Every dollar you raise helps provide greater access to quality health care for people living with HIV/AIDS.  Anyone who raises $100 or more will receive a 2017 AIDS Walk Wisconsin T-shirt.  You may also be eligible for exciting prizes.  Take the first step toward your fundraising goal by making a personal donation today!

If I registered for AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run over the phone, through the mail, or at an outreach event, should I still register online?
No. If you signed up for the walk/run over the phone, through the mail or at an event, you're already registered.  You are now able to create a personal fundraising page and recruit friends and family to donate or join the team. 

How long is the Walk/Run? Where does it start?
AIDS Walk Wisconsin starts at the Summerfest Grounds in Milwaukee. The Walk is 5K (a little more than 3 miles) and takes runners/walkers along the lakefront, past the Milwaukee Art Museum, around the Veterans Park finishing back on the Summerfest Grounds.

Are there rest stops along the way?
There are two rest stops along the way. Each rest stop will have refreshments and entertainment to keep walkers energized.

Is the route accessible?
Yes. The route is accessible for people using wheelchairs or scooters, as well as families with wagons or strollers.

Where can I park?
 FREE parking for Walk participants is available. Volunteers will be there to help guide you to the correct lot.

Can I bring my dog?
YESYou can check-in and turn in pledges at any Registration window. There will be water bowls and treats throughout the grounds and along the route. We ask that you please clean up after your dog.

Will AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run be cancelled in the event of bad weather?
Event staff monitor weather closely. AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run takes place rain or shine. Please dress appropriately and join your fellow walkers and runners for the event, regardless of the weather!

A friend wants to make a donation by personal check. Who should the check be made payable to?
Checks should be made out to:  AIDS Walk Wisconsin.

What should I do with my pledges if I want to turn them in before October 7, or if I can't make it to AIDS Walk Wisconsin?
We welcome pledges turned in ahead of time.  Pledges or donations can be mailed to AIDS Walk Wisconsin at the following address. Please include your contact information (name, address, phone, email) so AIDS Walk Wisconsin staff know to credit you for the pledges.

Offline donations received in the AIDS Walk Wisconsin office by noon, Friday, October 6, will be added to your fundraising totals prior to the event and will be on record at Registration Saturday morning.

What are pledge forms for? Do I add my online pledges to my pledge form?
Pledge forms are for offline pledges only! Online pledges and offline pledges must stay separate. Please do not add any online pledges to your pledge form. Walker Registration will have your online fundraising total as well as the total of all pledges that you mailed into AIDS Walk Wisconsin prior to the day of the event. Staff at Registration will add these totals with any cash or checks you bring on the day of the Walk and will be able to take credit or debit card donations at select windows.

Where does money raised from AIDS Walk Wisconsin go?
Money raised through AIDS Walk Wisconsin supports HIV health care, social services and comprehensive prevention efforts of the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin (ARCW), along with selected organizations serving people with HIV/AIDS. For 2016 those agencies were: Elena's House, One Heartland, Richard's Place and Sheboygan County Task Force.  All money raised for the Walk stays in Wisconsin for the fight against AIDS.
