Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page!! My name is Maria Huerta and I am a HIV case manager. I first became involved with the AIDS ride in 2014 when I started my employment as a Bilingual Case Manager at the AIDS Network in Madison. I quickly became very passionate about my work. I help HIV positive clients reach their goals and overcome barriers. I learned about the disparrities within HIV affecting many minority communities. After experiencing my first ACT ride, I saw the importance of the event and wanted participate by riding!
Thats how Esperanza Latina group was created and participated in the AIDS RIDE Wisconsin 2015 (ACT 13)! I reached out to friends who were passionate as I was about this issue. Our goal was to bring awareness about HIV in latino community. We promoted our group, ecouraged other people to join. We were in the local spanish radio station to talk about the importance of even and our group. We were also given the opportunity to answer questions about HIV. We rode 160 miles over the weekend! We also felt very welcomed to the WI AIDS Ride community!
Esperanza Latina returned for the AIDS Ride Wisconsin 2016 (ACT 14)!!!! I decided to volunteer all 4 days and was part of the ICE and WATER CREW! It was a great experience to see the background work! It takes dedicated crew members to make this event happen. By this year, I felt like it was a group of friends getting together for their yearly gathering. It was great seeing old faces and new ones. Its amazing to see a group of all walks of life come together for this one mission that binds us together.
I am looking forward for AIDS Ride Wisconsin 2017 (ACT 15). I've challenges myself to ride the 260 miles and to support an organization that provides needed services to the community. Please help me reach my fundraising goal! Lets make a difference together!
Thank you for your time.
