"Riding for the Stars"
Hi and Thank You for checking out my page.
This year will be the 15th year that I have participated in the ACT Ride/WI AIDS Ride. For several years I have crewed the ride, but this year I am making a personal challenge. If I am able to raise a minimium of $600.00, I will get back on my bike and ride 100 miles on the Century Day during the ride.
You might want to know what does "Riding for the Stars" mean? In 1991 a client of ours passed away and his family wanted a way for his name to always be remembered. The family made a quilt and asked that moving forward, anyone who passed away would have their name written on a star and would be sewed on the quilt. Each year, during World AIDS Day, our Case Managers gather for a rememberence and sew on any names of clients that we lost during the past year. The tradition was started 27 years ago and we continue to remember all of those individuals that we were blessed to know. For individuals coming out to cheer on the riders, the quilt will be on display nightly.
The ride is more than just looking in the past, its looking to the future to put an end to HIV/AIDS. With your dontation, you will help ARCW make that dream a reality.
Thank you for your consideration.
